Tulum is a coastal town located on the Yucatán Peninsula in the state of Quintana Roo, Mexico. It is famous for its unique combination of ancient Mayan ruins and pristine, turquoise beaches. The Tulum ruins, perched on a cliff overlooking the Caribbean Sea, date back to pre-Columbian times and are one of the most iconic sites of the Mayan civilization. In addition to its historical significance, Tulum has become a popular destination known for its bohemian atmosphere, luxury resorts, cenotes, and local-inspired cuisine.
Bahía Tankah, located just a few kilometers north of Tulum, is a quieter, less touristy area, ideal for those seeking a more private and nature-oriented experience. The bay is renowned for its coral reef, making it an excellent spot for snorkeling and diving. It is also known for its serene ambiance, less crowded beaches, and proximity to crystal-clear cenotes like Cenote Manatí. Unlike Tulum, Bahía Tankah is less developed, offering a more rustic and exclusive experience with private homes and small boutique hotels.
